Danielle Goldey and Meredith Kott, both lesbians, were like any other American baseball fan. But that all changed on Aug. 8.
Goldey and Kott engaged in a full-on lip lock during a Dodgers game at Dodgers Stadium Aug. 8. Their straight friends were also making out.
Unlike the Sirbrina story, an usher did not come out, but instead eight, yes I said eight security guards came out after someone complained about the two girls. The two girls were escorted out of the Stadium, while the security guards completely ignored the straight couples that were making out right next to the two girls!
Goldey and Kott have been Dodger fans for a very long time. They were, to say that least, pissed off. They got themselves a lawyer and demanded an apology or a lawsuit would follow. Girls, girls, girls. When there is clear discrimination like this, you sue. Don't be giving out warnings when you clearly have a case.
To their shock (but not mine) The Dodgers apologized. They also gave 5,000 tickets to gay and lesbian groups They also invited the couple to sit behind home plate and said they would send their employees to sensitivity training. Dodger president Bob Graziano even went to West Hollywood to meet with the two girls. Notice they never got their money back?
``I think they stepped up to the plate more than they had to,'' Goldey said. ``All we wanted was an apology.''
The LA Times received feedback and as usual there were people sickined by the kiss. Well, my message to those people is this: Welcome to the United States. Where kissing girls is perfectly legal.
